How we handle your child's photo

Your photo is optional, and we delete it within 24 hours of upload. You can describe your child instead and get exactly the same Product at the same price.

What happens, step by step

1. You upload. The photo goes to a private store that only authorised members of our team can open. It is not public and it is not in search engines.
2. Our AI makes the preview and the character. When you ask for a free preview, our AI image service (fal), which we pay for, automatically creates a preview picture and a cartoon character of your child, from your photo or from your description. The service is set up not to store your request, to delete its files within an hour, and not to use them to train AI. Your child's name is never sent to the AI service.
3. You approve. You approve the character by pressing the button to confirm the preview looks like your child, or by buying. You can ask for a new try before you approve.
4. If you haven't bought yet. When you ask for a free preview we save your gift details, the preview picture and the character for up to 30 days so you can come back and finish. The photo itself is still deleted within 24 hours of upload.
5. We delete the photo. We delete the photo permanently within 24 hours of upload, whether or not you have approved the character or bought, and record when it was done.
6. We keep the character for a while. The character, preview picture and personalisation details are kept for 90 days after delivery, in case we need to fix or re-send your Product, then deleted unless you ask us to keep them.

What we never do. We never use your child's photo or avatar to train AI. We never use it in our marketing or sell it. We never run face recognition on it. We do not keep the photo on our team's own devices.

You are in control. Withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete the avatar and details early, any time at privacy@littlebigstars.co.uk. We will confirm in writing.

Who sees it. The AI service processing it on our instructions, and authorised members of our team who check the preview and make your book.

Please only upload a photo of a child you have the right to share. That means your own child, or a child whose parent or legal guardian agrees. Do not include other people's faces if you can avoid it, and never upload sensitive or inappropriate images.
